La Rioja Bike Race 2015

La Rioja Bike Race 2015 race was classified as an UCI S2 event and directed at some professional mountain bikers and many serious MTB amateurs, in total there were 1100 participants. The race consisted of three stages and took place from May 15th until May 17th. All stages were round trips, starting and finishing in the capital of La Rioja, Logroño, close to the Ebro river and the start was at an altitude of about 290 metres. All stages took place at the south of Logroño and after crossing some wine fields enough challenges were to be found in the mountains. The race was very well organized, excellent signs marking the tracks, good provision of drinks and food and a very friendly and helpful staff. Fortunately it was dry and not too hot.

Stage 2

This was the longest and hardest stage. Particularly the climb from Nestares to the Pista de Moncalvillo along a single track was difficult. An alternative could be the gravel road from Nestares to the Pista de Moncalvillo. The single track descent from the Serradero to Sojuela was nice.

Distance: 82.7 km; Up: 2271 m; Down: 2271 m
